Molecular Inventor
Molecular Inventor™ is an object-oriented 3D toolkit that
facilitates the rendering and interaction of chemical systems.
Molecular Inventor is a set of extensions of Open
Inventor to facilitate the rendering of molecular structures,
isosurfaces and 3D contours.
Molecular Inventor was initially developed by Silicon
Graphics for its high technology systems. Molecular Inventor
has been Open Source for years.
Main features
Molecular Inventor
key concepts are:
object-oriented and written in C++
extension of Open Inventor
platform dependent
(IRIX only)
integrated user interface
(X11+Motif only)
support for atoms, bonds, isosurfaces, 3D contours and labels
fully customizable display styles for molecular structures
(wireframe, ball and wire, ball and stick, CPK)
provides high performance picking for atoms, bonds and labels
